The Carnival holiday in Brazil comes each year in February or March, as in many other predominantly Roman Catholic countries. The date varies, but it always immediately precedes Ash Wednesday, which is the first day of a 40-day Lenten fast 

The Carnival event in Rio de Janeiro is the largest in the world. Millions attend each year, and hundreds of thousands travel to Rio from abroad to take part in the festivities. leading up to Easter.

 National Park do Iguaçu, one of the biggest vegetation reservation in Brazil. Here, passengers will take a bus that will take them on a tour inside the park and then to the beginning of the footbridges placed over the cliffs of the Iguazu River. The length of these footbridges extends to almost a kilometer. During the walk it is possible to get a panoramic view of the Isla San Martín and of the most majestic waterfalls: the Bossetti, the San Martín and the Three Musketeers. Towards the end of the walk is the view point, from which you can appreciate a unique view of the Devil’s Throat, which, at this point, is only about 150 meters away. This wonderful view is even more enhanced by the constant formation of rainbows. The itinerary ends next to the Salto Floriano waterfall where there is a small store and there is access to the panoramic elevator, which visitors can take if they wish to. At the end of the walk there is a long stairway which leads to the place from which visitors get their transfer back to the hotel. The daily tours are preferably done in the mornings due to the position of the sun over the waterfalls.

 Although riven by inequality, Rio has great style. Its international renown is bolstered by a series of symbols that rank as some of the greatest landmarks in the world: the Corcovado mountain supporting the great statue of Christ the Redeemer; the rounded incline of the Sugar Loaf mountain, standing at the entrance to the bay; and the famous sweeps of Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, probably the most notable lengths of sand on the planet. It’s a setting enhanced annually by the frenetic sensuality of Carnaval, an explosive celebration that – for many people – sums up Rio and its citizens, the cariocas. The major downside in a city given over to conspicuous consumption is the rapacious development that has engulfed Rio. As the rural poor, escaping drought and poverty in other regions of Brazil, swell Rio’s population, the city has been squeezed like a toothpaste tube between mountains and sea, pushing its human contents ever further out along the coast. Over the decades, much of the city’s rich architectural heritage has been whittled away, along with the destruction of much of its natural environment.

The Amazon is a vast tropical rain forest – the largest on the planet – and a giant river system. It covers over half of Brazil and a large portion of South America. The tropical rain forest extends into Brazil’s neighboring countries (Venezuela, Colombia, Peru and Bolivia), where the river itself begins life among thousands of different headwaters. In Brazil only the stretch between Manaus and Belém is actually known as the Rio Amazonas: above Manaus the river is called the Rio Solimões up to the border with Peru, where it once again becomes the Amazonas. It is by far the biggest river system in the world; eight of the world’s twenty longest rivers are in the Amazon basin, along with a fifth of the planet’s fresh water.

 In the morning, we visit the Iguazú National Park, Argentinian part of the falls, declared Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO and one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World. During the tour, we go through the three circuits of the Park: Garganta del Diablo (to reach the balcony and viewpoint of the most imposing falls of the Park), The Upper Trail (which provides a view of the falls from above) and The Lower Trail (which offers a closer contact with the vegetation and the falls). During the tour, free time to have lunch (not included)

Great Adventure tour 

Great Adventure combines in a single trip the very essence of Iguazu National Park: the jungle and the waterfalls.

Departing from the Operative Center or from the Visitors’ Center, we shall enter the jungle by the Yacaratiá trail in trucks specially designed for this environment. Bilingual guides (Spanish and English) will introduce the place’s natural and cultural resources.

This 5 kms long stretch ends at Puerto Macuco. At its dock, visitors shall board on the boats that shall be sailing in the Lower Iguazu River for as long as 6 kms, heading towards the waterfalls area, enjoying plentiful rapids. Upon reaching the Tres Mosqueteros Fall, visitors shall be able to see the falls of both the Argentine and Brazilian sides crowned by the view of the Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat). Afterwards, the most exciting point comes when facing the incomparable San Martín waterfall, the second in dimension and the hugest any boat may face. After that we’ll navigate 6km down river until Puerto Macuco from where, after walking up hill 150 mts we’ll ride the trucks 6Km back to our Operative Center. Duration 2:15 Hs.
